The Savannah Cat Shoppe in Rancho Cucamonga will still be the only retail establishment for savannahs in the Los Angeles area, but now San Diego residents can enjoy the same experience much closer to home by visiting the new Del Mar location.

The Savannah Cat Shoppe is home to the Guinness Book of World Record Holder, “Scarlett’s Magic”, who reigns as the “World’s Tallest Domestic Cat” and featured in the famous 2011 Guinness Book. She will be at the Del Mar Shoppe on Saturday, October 1^st.

Savannahs are a rare domestic, hybrid pedigree feline (recognized by The International Cat Association or “TICA”) and can vary in price and size and are a mix of African serval and domestic cat. These amazing cats, due to their exotic looks and sweet temperament, have not only grabbed the attention of the Guinness Book of World Records, but have been featured on numerous TV shows such as “Cats 101”, other feature segments on “The Animal Planet” and even a guest appearance on “Live with Regis and Kelly”. Unlike most cats, savannahs love the water and can be easily trained to walk on a leash.

When visiting The Savannah Cat Shoppe in Del Mar, people can view a variety of kittens, a large one-year old F1 Savannah (50% African Serval) and talk to Proprietor/Operator, Frank Hopperton about the cats. Similar to the Rancho Cucamonga location, clients can purchase a savannah kitten directly from the Shoppe in Del Mar.

“The cats are absolutely extraordinary and worth every penny. Their exotic looks and dog-like temperament make them a perfect pet, even for the most discerning dog lovers!” exclaims Frank.

The Savannah Cat Shoppe at Del Mar will be hosting a Grand Opening in October 2011, but its doors are NOW OPEN to clients and advocates of the exotic breed.

Exotic Savannah Cat Shoppe Opens at Flower Hill Promenade Del Mar California

Flower Hill’s newest store is one of the most unique shops to ever be a part of the shopping center– the Savannah Cat Shoppe. The shop features the exotic Savannah Cats, the world’s largest domestic house cat and is the second shop of its kind in the world to give the public the ability to interact with these spectacular cats.

The Savannah cat is likely the most unique cat you will ever find, a hybrid breed derived from a domestic cat mated with a serval, an African wildcat. They are known for their playful, dog-like personalities. So much like dogs in fact, that they love to play in water, and are often even seen walked on a leash or playing fetch with their owners. Although partially wildcat, Savannahs have fully domesticated personalities and are great with children and other animals, making them wonderful pets.

The Savannah Cat Shoppe opened its doors for business on Saturday, September 24^th and is located in the lower level of Flower Hill Promenade, across from Paradise Grille’s outdoor patio. They are bred tall and slim, with the black cheetah tear-stripe streaming down their cheeks. The same litter can have a large, wild looking kitten that will start bouncing 6-12ft into the air, and a tiny domestic runt that may become a loyal sleeping partner. A Savannah says hello by fluffing out its tail, displays pleasure by wagging its tail, and show anger with an angry snake-like hiss

So far, the expensive pricing of this rare breed has resulted in celebrity ownership only. So, if you see Arnold Schwarzenegger walking a giant cat in the city streets, it is perfectly harmless to pet it or throw a stick for it. At least, harmless in reference to the Savannah.
